Cllr. Noel McBride was re-elected to Donegal County Council on June 5th 2009, when he received 1,592 votes in the new Letterkenny electoral area. Cllr. McBride was first elected to Donegal County Council in 2004.
Noel and his wife Rosemary live at Umlagh, Carrigart, with their daughters Róisín and Aoife. Cllr. McBride owns and manages ‘McBride Décor Painting & Decorating Supplies’ in Letterkenny.
Noel McBride is a lifelong member of Fine Gael. The McBride family home in was the venue for Fine Gael clinics held in Carrigart throughout the 1960s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. Noel directed Fine Gael’s general election campaign in the Milford area in 2007, and was a central figure in the campaign to elect Deputy Joe McHugh to Dáil Eireann in 2007.
Cllr. McBride is a founder member of Sheephaven Credit Union, where he served as Chairman/President for three years. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors.
He was a founder member of Glenree Athletic Club in 1973, and is member of the Board of Management of Scoil Eoin Baiste National School in Carrigart. He is also a member of Meevagh Parish Council.
Since his election to Donegal County Council Cllr. McBride has prioritised
- Maintaining low service charges for indigenous communities.
- Supporting local communities to live in their own areas.
- Waste management and a cleaner environment with a greater emphasis on recycling.
